lyrics
RYLAND AND SPENCER (Rise and bloom again) (Trad/Arr. Jeff Kazor, Jade note music, BMI)
You can Trump down the flowers around my grave,
They’ll rise and bloom again, they’ll rise and bloom again.
Ryland and Spencer are burning down.
You can eat more fried chicken than a pretty girl can fry,
Now tell more of them dog gone lies,
Well you can eat more fat meat than you can cook in a week,
Tell more of them dog gone lies, tell more of them dog gone lies.
Ryland and Spencer are burning down.
You can tell more lies than the stars in the sky,
Well, maybe your time ain’t so long, maybe your time ain’t so long.
Ryland and Spencer are burning down.
Well, what you gonna do when your money’s all gone?
Hang down your head and cry.
Well, what you gonna do when your orange is blue?
Hang down your head and cry, hang down your head and cry.
Ryland and Spencer are burning down.
Ryland and Spencer are burning down.
We’ll rise and bloom again, they’ll rise and bloom again.

I’m so grateful this crossed my path. This album is so beautiful. All the clear technique and mastery and vision are kinda secondary to the fact that this album brought me calm and joy during one of the most difficult times in my life. Yeah, grateful. David McCullough

John Drumbo French from Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band worked with Thompson on two albums along with Fred Frith and Henry Kaiser.
Those two French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson albums led me to this.
Also, Richard Thompson taught Hugh Cornwell (of The Stranglers) how to play the bass guitar in a band when they were both at the same school (Emil and The Detectives?).
With a career spanning 50 years and playing with two of my heroes (French and Cornwell) Thompson has produced a fascinating EP. yellowcakeuf6
